GORDON VERPERMAN PARK NAMING
In honour of Gordon Vesperman OAM there a park was named after him in Cootamundra. The park name, Gordon Vesperman Park, was approved in the NSW Government Gazette No 102 of 20 November 2015 by the Geographical Names Board under the Geographical Names Act 1966.
GEOGRAPHICAL NAMES ACT 1966
Pursuant to the provisions of section 10 of the Geographical Names Act 1966, the Geographical Names Board has this day assigned the name listed hereunder as a geographical name.
Gordon Vesperman Park for a reserve on the corner of Bourke and Olney Streets in the suburb of Cootamundra.
The position and extent for this feature is recorded and shown within the Geographical Names Register of New South Wales. This information can be accessed through the Board’s website at www.gnb.nsw.gov.au.

The Vesperman family, their descendants, Mayor Jim Slattery, Councillors, Members of the Cootamundra Historical Society and community members attended the naming of Gordon Vesperman Park on Saturday 12th March.
The Mayor made an opening speech about Gordon’s life, followed by Ian Vesperman before the unveiling of the Park sign.
Gordon Vesperman Park is located next to the Swimming pool and outdoor fitness station on the Cnr Bourke and Olney Streets, Cootamundra.
